Hotel description and useful information for travellers

Cleanliness

Poor — multiple guests reported extremely stuffy rooms, windows that do not open, old carpets and a strong stale/sweaty smell; guests woke feeling sticky and uncomfortable.

Service

Mixed but functionally strong in places — some guests received complimentary upgrades and check-in proceeded, however there were administrative/communication errors (pre-check-in messages addressed to the wrong guest) and requests (safe) were not fulfilled. Rating is elevated to offset low scores in other areas while reflecting the positive upgrade incidents.

Location

Excellent — prime Beverly Hills location close to many good restaurants and cafes, a short walk to nearby coffee spots and within walking distance (30–40 minutes) of Rodeo Drive/Grove.

Room Quality

Below average — reports of very small rooms (some without windows), poor ventilation, unpleasant odors, no in-room safe in some cases, slow hot water and flickering bathroom lights; outdoor spaces were a redeeming feature for some guests.

Amenities

Generally strong public amenities — outdoor covered seating areas praised by guests. In-room amenity reliability was inconsistent (e. g. , promised safes not available), so the high score reflects valued common spaces and overall amenity appeal for location.

Value for Money

Poor — guests explicitly said the condition and cleanliness were disappointing given the price paid and described the experience as closer to an aging budget motel.

Luxurious Location

Located just minutes away from popular Los Angeles attractions, including the prestigious Rodeo Drive, the Carlyle Inn offers a prime spot for exploring the city.
